Simultaneous Visible Light Communication and Ranging Using High-Speed Stereo Cameras Based on Bicubic Interpolation Considering Multi-Level Pulse-Width Modulation

Visible light communication (VLC) and visible ranging are applicable techniques for intelligent transportation systems (ITS). They use every unique light-emitting diode (LED) on roads data transmission range estimation. The simultaneous VLC can be applied to improve the performance of both. It is necessary achieve rapid rate high-accuracy when transmitting estimating simultaneously. We signal modulation method pulse-width (PWM) increase rate. However, using PWM transmission, images LED transmitters captured at different luminance levels easily saturated, saturation leads inaccurate In this paper, we establish a novel system ITS PWM. Here, analyze problems apply bicubic interpolation solve problem thus, performance. Simultaneous enabled stereo camera. Communication realized maximal-ratio combining (MRC) while achieved phase-only correlation (POC) sinc function approximation. Furthermore, measured our proposed field trial experiment. results show that error-free up distance 55 m estimation errors below 0.5 within 60 m.
